Introduction
People sneezing at plastic flowers, blood flowing to the head after being
embarrassed, dummy drugs having an affect on the physical body: These
are just a few of many examples that illustrate how our thoughts and
emotions are connected to our bodies. An extension of this is that our
thoughts and emotions can also have a powerful affect on our health.
Science Behind
The Mind-Body Connection.
It has been scientifically proven that every time we have a thought
certain chemicals are released through the body which are called Neuro-Peptides
(Pert, 1999, Chopra 1989). These Neuro-Peptides are than absorbed in
every organ of the body by what are called cell receptors, which are
also located in every organ of the body. This means that every organ
in our body listens and takes in what you are thinking and feeling
and this in turn affects the healthy state of the organ - especially
when you keep having the same constant thoughts (be they positive or
negative)
Common
Examples Of How Our Thoughts And Emotions
Affect Our Health:
• People
having heart attacks when they are feeling
stressed
• People often collapsing when in shock
• Lonely people having more health problems than people who have a good
social network
• People who have pets of their own as companions often living longer
• Many people often passing away soon after their life long partner also
passes away.
• A man’s health often deteriorating very quickly after they retire
from work – as some of men lose their overall meaning to life once they
retire.
• People who have a positive outlook to life generally live longer than
those who are pessimistic.
My Story
In 1974 I was born with a life threatening genetic skin disorder. The
ramifications of the skin disorder were enormous as sufferers develop
a range of symptoms that affect the whole body with many sufferers
passing away at an early age. At the age of fourteen I was introduced
to Mind-Body medicine by a family member to help me deal with the
condition. Mind-Body medicine is about using the power of thought
and emotion to affect and heal your body. From than on I embarked
on a healing journey using mind-body medicine techniques and since
then have managed to dramatically improve my condition and remove
a host of symptoms using the power of the mind and emotion to heal
my body. Now being in healthy state I teach people how to use the
power of your mind and body to heal your body (through my motivational
keynote presentations).
